Carlos Serres

Carlomagno 1970, 125 Anniversary

Variety
65% Tempranillo, 25% Graciano and 10% Mazuelo. After years of work, we managed to recover the Carlomagno brand as Bodegas Carlos Serres historic label. Coinciding with the 125th Anniversary of the winery’s foundation, we have relaunched the brand in a special edition of 1,896 bottles to match the year the winery first opened.
Winemaking
The last vintage that Bodegas Carlos Serres bottled of its flagship Carlomagno label was in the late 1970s. After more than 40 years in the market, the winery sold the brand as part of a refocus of its winemaking and commercial policies.
Ageing
55 months in american oak barrels plus 49 years bottle ageing in the cellar.
Tasting notes
The Rioja regulatory board gave this vintage an official “Very good” rating.
